What a complaint contributes

An IC3 complaint supplies information for review and possible dissemination to appropriate agencies. Investigation and prosecution decisions remain with the receiving agencies. A submission acknowledgement should not be treated as an investigation update or a recovery approval.

Keep your own records

Retain the report copy and original supporting records. Keep any later correspondence with the appropriate agency. Legal advice can help assess other routes, deadlines and evidence issues, but filing a complaint alone does not stop every civil deadline or create representation.
