Understand the process.
Practical answers before you request a consultation.
How long do bank, platform and agency responses take?
Times vary. Banks, exchanges, cryptocurrency platforms and agencies apply their own checks, procedures and response schedules. Coordination, agreement or approval can take time, especially where additional records or more than one jurisdiction are involved. We may therefore be unable to give a reliable completion timeframe. Any estimate is subject to change. The firm follows up within the agreed scope and reports material developments, even where it cannot give a completion date. It cannot promise another party’s decision date, approval or release of assets.
Is the initial case review free?
Yes. We hear your account and assess suitability for a technical referral without charging a firm retainer. Any independent provider’s own terms and charges are explained separately. The firm’s standard fee and any applicable retainer terms arise only at the later written engagement stage, after the technical findings return and the client agrees to proceed.
What happens before the next legal steps?
The firm reviews the report, completes its internal and relevant jurisdictional checks, and identifies the submissions and approvals required. Where appropriate, SARFUND and other records are checked for related reports or activity. Material information requires appropriate confirmation. Steps dependent on approval proceed only after that approval is obtained.
Do you work with private investigators?
Yes. We work with vetted and verified private investigators. Where investigative assistance is appropriate, the proposed assignment, scope, costs and authority to share information are explained before work is instructed. Counsel reviews the findings as part of the legal assessment. An investigator’s involvement does not itself confer court, police or regulatory powers or guarantee an outcome.
Do you work with vetted recovery companies?
Yes. We work with more than 13 vetted independent recovery companies nationwide, including partners across multiple states. If specialist technical work is appropriate, we explain the proposed referral, assignment, costs and engagement arrangement before it is instructed. Counsel reviews the report as part of the legal assessment. A referral does not guarantee recovery or give a private provider freezing or enforcement powers.
Can you guarantee recovery?
No. We assess and pursue appropriate legal routes within the agreed engagement. Available remedies and results depend on the evidence, applicable law, asset location and independent decisions. No particular outcome is guaranteed.
Does an IC3 report freeze assets?
No. A complaint provides information for review and possible referral. It does not itself give a private firm authority to freeze or seize assets. Any preservation, restraint or recovery step requires an applicable legal or platform process.
Do you provide technical recovery services?
Our role is legal advice and representation. Where appropriate and agreed, independent technical investigators may assist with evidence analysis. Their findings are reviewed as part of the legal assessment.
Can you act in any jurisdiction?
We assess jurisdiction before accepting a matter. Appropriately qualified local counsel may be needed. An international matter does not mean that every lawyer involved is admitted everywhere.
Does the consultation form make me a client?
No. Sending the form does not create an attorney-client relationship. Representation requires conflict and jurisdiction checks and a written engagement.
What should I include in my first message?
Provide a concise overview, the relevant parties or platform, approximate dates and the information requested by the form. Use Unknown when appropriate. Do not send passwords, seed phrases, private keys or sensitive identity documents.
How are costs agreed?
The initial case review is free, with no firm retainer. If the matter is suitable, an independent provider undertakes the agreed technical assessment and sends its report to the firm. Only after the findings return, if the client proceeds, does the written legal engagement disclose the standard fee and any applicable retainer terms. Fee amounts are communicated privately in the agreement.
How can I request an update?
Contact info@cryptoslawyers.com and quote your assigned enquiry reference if available. The firm will review the request and use the appropriate communication route. Do not send account passwords, private keys or seed phrases.
