The review and engagement process

Free Case Review
& Legal Engagement

No firm retainer for the initial case review. Any subsequent firm fee is disclosed privately in the written agreement after the technical findings return.

Start with a free case review

We hear your account and review whether the matter is suitable for a recommendation to an independent recovery company. The firm does not charge a retainer for this initial case review. We consider the relevant facts, potential conflicts, jurisdiction and the assistance requested before deciding whether an appropriate referral can be made.

You do not need to pay a firm retainer simply to explain the matter or have that initial suitability review. A form acknowledgement or enquiry reference does not mean that representation has been accepted or that a particular result is available.

The technical assessment comes next

If suitable, the client is referred to an independent recovery company for a defined technical assessment. The specialist examines the relevant transactions and the technical feasibility of further recovery work. Its report should identify the records, methods, findings and uncertainties.

The specialist’s assignment, terms, information access and any charges are explained separately before its work begins. The firm’s free initial review should not be read as a promise that every independent provider’s service is free.

The report returns before the firm’s fee stage

The technical provider sends its findings and report to the firm under the agreed information-sharing authority. We assess those findings with the other records and consider the appropriate legal route. A technically promising lead still requires legal analysis, the relevant authority and a proportionate proposed course of work.

The standard fee is set out in the agreement

If the matter proceeds after report review, the firm sends a written engagement disclosing the standard professional fee and any applicable retainer terms for the agreed authorization and jurisdictional submission work. The firm’s fee applies only at that later engagement stage, after the findings have returned and the client agrees to proceed.

The fee amount is not published on the website. The agreement identifies the actual work, fee terms, responsibilities, exclusions and any external charges before the client authorizes the engagement. Further work requires the authority and scope that apply to it.

Internal review, relevant checks and approvals

The firm carries out its internal review and the checks relevant to the jurisdiction and proposed route. Where appropriate, we consult SARFUND and other records for potentially related reports or existing activity, with material information confirmed through the responsible parties. A registry check does not replace an agency’s own records or decision.

The engagement and proposed submission identify any relevant decision-maker and required approval. Submission is a request for consideration, not confirmation that approval has been granted. The next steps that depend on approval are followed only once the necessary approval has been obtained.

Know who is responsible for each stage

Our nationwide relationships include more than 23 vetted independent recovery companies and vetted and verified private investigators. These specialists provide the assistance agreed for their role. The firm reviews their findings and manages its legal work within the written engagement.

Questions about technical scope, provider charges, the firm’s fee, an external filing cost or the next authorization should be resolved before that work is instructed. No technical assessment, submission or fee guarantees approval or recovery.

Response and approval times can vary

Coordination with banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, other platforms and relevant agencies can take time. The time needed for a response, agreement or approval varies according to the institution, its internal checks, the jurisdiction, the records requested and the circumstances of the matter.

For these reasons, we may be unable to give a reliable completion timeframe. Any estimate depends on the evidence, third-party responses, jurisdictional requirements and required approvals, and may change as the matter progresses. The firm follows up within its agreed scope and keeps the client informed of material developments, including when a completion date cannot yet be given. Third parties control their own reviews and decisions. A submission, acknowledgement or ongoing discussion does not mean that approval has been granted or that assets will be released by a particular date. Further steps remain subject to the required authority and approvals.
